T.J.'s Mission:
Our population of approximately 450 encompasses students of many diverse backgrounds and cultures in kindergarten through sixth grade. We strive to provide the kind of individual attention that encourages students both academically and socially and makes our large school seem like a smaller, more personal one. Thomas Jefferson's mission is to empower our students to be self-motivated, world-class learners who demonstrate respect, responsibility, and commitment to academic excellence. Our motto is One Terrific Journey, and staff, parents, and community supporters are all dedicated to making each child's journey at Thomas Jefferson truly terrific!

Monday, April 24- Friday, April 28 – Jump Rope for Heart Week. Contact Mr. Johnson with questions!

Monday, April 24th – 3rd-6th Grade Carl Sandburg Band, Orchestra & Chorus Tour, 1:00pm.  

Wednesday April 26- Friday, April 28 – Anderson Book Fair in LRC!  The book fair will be open during school hours Wednesday – Friday, as well as during the Open House on Thursday evening! Students will be able to preview books on Wednesday, April 26th and bring home “wish lists”. Thank you to Anderson Book Stores for so many fun Author Visits this year as an added benefit to hosting this book fair. In order to run this book fair we need your help! Please sign up for a shift { http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c044da4ac2ea3fc1-spring1 } to help us make this a fun event for the kids and earn funds to support reading at TJ.  

Wednesday, April 26 
– April PBIS Celebration!  Students can turn in their TJ Tickets to “purchase” things from this month’s menu: Bring your Own Gum (5 tickets), Homework Pass (10 tickets), Watch Volleyball Game (all grades, 15 tickets), Play Volleyball Game vs. Teachers (4th-6th grade, 20 tickets), Big Red Box (25 tickets).
– Beginning & Intermediate Band Concert, 7:00pm, Paddock School

Thursday, April 27th – TJ Open House, 6:30-7:30.  Come and see what your children have been working on all year! Contact the front office with any questions.

Friday, April 28th 
– Bonus PBIS Celebration!  If students go above and beyond this month and collectively earn 2200 TJ Tickets they will have the opportunity to watch funny animal videos in their classroom! Good luck!

Our Weekly High 5 – You did it, we appreciate it!
​Thank you to Patricia Bell for all she does for our Green Team at TJ! Patricia, and her wonderful volunteers, plan and host all of the Green Team meetings and lunches throughout the year as well as all of the Earth Week Activities that our kids have been able to participate in! Thank you so much for your time and energy helping our kids learn to be responsible and aware of our environment!

     Recognition Nominations - The Thomas Jefferson Recognition Committee wants to hear from you! Each year the Thomas Jefferson PTA accepts nominations for candidates to receive recognition for their efforts on behalf of our children. The people who earn these esteemed honors are those who go above and beyond to serve the children of our school. Please take this opportunity to be sure the deserved person of your choice gets nominated! If you know a PARENT, VOLUNTEER, STAFF MEMBER, ADMINISTRATOR, or COMMUNITY MEMBER who has given service above and beyond during this school year, please let us know.      2017-2018 TJ PTA Open Committees - We have many great opportunities to get involved next year both at home and at school!  Check out our list of open committees and email Amy Etnyre (aetnyre@gmail.com) if you have any questions or any interest.  

     D15 Community Engagement Committee - In January, a group of 45 volunteers throughout the district began meeting to develop a new process for gathering input from the entire community for the purposes of informing the decisions of District 15. This committee is in the process of gathering contact information for not only parents in the district, but all taxpayers. They have created a Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/pg/communityengagementd15/about/?ref=page_internal) and an email address (communityengagementd15@gmail.com) to use as resources to contact residents. Please take a moment to "Like" their Facebook page or email them to add your email address to their contact list. Also, please take a moment to share their information with other residents within District 15.
