Our population of approximately 460 encompasses students of many diverse backgrounds and cultures in kindergarten through sixth grade. We strive to provide the kind of individual attention that encourages students both academically and socially and makes our large school seem like a smaller, more personal one. Thomas Jefferson's mission is to empower our students to be self-motivated, world-class learners who demonstrate respect, responsibility, and commitment to academic excellence. Our motto is One Terrific Journey, and staff, parents, and community supporters are all dedicated to making each child's journey at Thomas Jefferson truly terrific!

Please send in gently used books beginning Monday, November 6th through Wednesday, November 29th. The class with the most amount of books collected will have a party with Mrs. Hudson and Mrs. Rossi! Friday, November 17th, 12:30pm - 1:30pm - Grandparents Day - Have your Grandparents who are attending Grandparent's Day stopped into TJ yet to have their ID scanned? Please remind them to do so before Friday! It is a quick process, but anyone whose ID has not been pre-scanned will have to stand in line on Friday and could miss out on time with their grandchildren. If your grandparent is coming from out of town, they can also stop in that morning to have their ID scanned. Please contact the office with any questions.
(More details on these events and more are available on our calendar)
Monday, November 20th & Tuesday, November 21st - Conferences
Monday, November 20th - Friday, November 24th - No School
Friday, December 1st 6pm-9pm - Mom's Drop & Shop - For the month of December, instead of a restaurant dine and share, we are lucky to have the opportunity for a fun new event. Families are invited to Jump Zone in Schaumburg the evening of Friday, 12/1 from 6pm-9pm. The cost to jump is $10 per child (adults are free).
Kids get to jump the night away while parents have the opportunity to do some holiday shopping with over 35 vendors. Jump Zone will donate 20% back to the TJ PTA from food sales and ALL jumps that night (not just TJ families). Plus, we will receive $2 from every vendor table.
If any parents sell or make things and would be interested in participating as a vendor, please contact Stacyhemmer@gmail.com for more info.
Our Weekly High 5 – You did it, we appreciate it!
This week we'd like to give a big high 5 to Lisa Lucht (our membership chair) and Sarah Fricke (our directory chair) for all your hard work in getting our directory put together. We would also like to thank all those who joined the PTA this year. Your support, whether by means of volunteering your time, or financial support make it possible for the PTA to do so much at TJ. We are so lucky to be part of such a great school community!
Opportunities to Get Involved!
Friday, November 17th 12:30pm - 1:30pm - Grandparent's Day
3 MORE Photographers Needed! - On Grandparents' Day, the TJ Student Council will have a "photo booth" in each grade level for Grandparents and students to take pictures together.
Mrs. Kennedy is looking for 6 amateur photographers with a decent camera to take pictures of willing subjects during this fun event. The pictures will then be uploaded to Google Drive and shared at a later time with grandparents who chose to get their picture taken. You don't need to be a professional photographer! Mrs. Kennedy would just like some adult help instead of having student council members taking the pictures.
TJ's Nurse's Office is in need of clothing! - The nurse's office at TJ usually has a supply of clothes for the younger students who might have an accident at school. This supply has been depleted and needs to be restocked! Do you have clean / decent condition pants (ideally leggings or elastic waste type pants with no holes) and underwear you would be willing to donate? Smaller sizes (Kindergarten - 3rd grade type sizes) are needed the most. Please drop off any donations in the office. *** Mrs. O received some boys clothes this week but is still in need of more and especially in need of girls clothing***
