T.J.'s Mission:
Our population of approximately 580 encompasses students of many diverse backgrounds and cultures in kindergarten through sixth grade. We strive to provide the kind of individual attention that encourages students both academically and socially and makes our large school seem like a smaller, more personal one. Thomas Jefferson's mission is to empower our students to be self-motivated, world-class learners who demonstrate respect, responsibility, and commitment to academic excellence. Our motto is One Terrific Journey, and staff, parents, and community supporters are all dedicated to making each child's journey at Thomas Jefferson truly terrific!

Hello TJ Families,

We hope everyone had a super Spring Break, and all the students are refreshed and ready to get back to studying.

Please take a moment to get out and vote on April 7th. This election is very important, we have 3 school board members being elected! These are the people who make decisions for our children in their schools. There is a Candidate Forum on Tuesday March 31st at 7pm at Sundling Junior High School. Please come out and see these candidates and what they stand for with regards to our schools.

There are still many activities going on at TJ this month. Family Reading Night is April 20th. Please join us that evening to enjoy some fun literacy games and suggestions for reading help. Also come and meet Aaron Reynolds. He is the very funny author of such books as Chicks and Salsa, Joey Fly Private Eye novels and the Tiger Moth graphic novels. The students have been checking out these books all year in the LRC. Mr. Reynolds will also be speaking to the students at an assembly during their school day.

We would like to thank all the wonderful people who volunteered to help at all the events and activities around our school. We know everyone has busy lives and we appreciate your dedication to our school. If you can think of anyone who deserves a little extra recognition please fill out the recognition form on the eminder page for our Recognition Tea. We want to make sure to acknowledge those volunteers who went the extra mile. You can also recognize any of the teachers or staff at the school who you feel have been especially helpful or kind to the students.

We still need help for Earth Week, April 20 through 24th. If you can come in and help at lunch time with Green Wednesday, our school recycling project or help with Pine Park cleanup, please contact Lori Stella at stellaloria2000@gmail.com.

If you are looking to help us from home we will need dishes for our Teacher appreciation luncheon on Tuesday April 28. Check out the eminder page for the sign up.

The next PTA meeting is Wednesday April 15th. Please join us in the MPR at 7:15pm. We will be voting on our officers, and by-laws for next year.
