Our population of approximately 580 encompasses students of many diverse backgrounds and cultures in kindergarten through sixth grade. We strive to provide the kind of individual attention that encourages students both academically and socially and makes our large school seem like a smaller, more personal one. Thomas Jefferson's mission is to empower our students to be self-motivated, world-class learners who demonstrate respect, responsibility, and commitment to academic excellence. Hello TJ Families,
Well we are in the home stretch. Only 29 more days of school left. I am sure all the children are looking forward to summer vacation, but there are a few fun events left.
First we want to say a big Thank You to Amy and all the parents who helped her put on a wonderful luncheon for the great teachers and staff at TJ. Thanks a Melon ;)!
Next the Palatine Bike Club is sponsoring National Bike-to-School Day on Thursday, May 7th. All students riding their bikes to school will get a TJ ticket, stickers from the bike club, and a chance to win another prize if our school has a high number of bikers.
Please join us on Wednesday May 20th for our Recognition Tea. This will be at 6pm in the MPR before the PTA meeting. We are saying “thank you” to ALL the volunteers who have helped us throughout the school year, and to acknowledge all our special teachers at TJ. We will also be saying good bye to Mr. Fagerholm after many, many years of dedication to helping TJ students.
We would encourage our parents to attend the SPARK meeting on Monday May 18th at 7pm at Sundling Junior High. The program is entitled “An APP for That.” There will be a speaker on technology and applications to help the students retain what they learned over the school year during the summer.
Our last PTA meeting of the year is Wednesday May 20th at 7:15 in the MPR. Please join us to welcome our new officers for next school year, and say thank you to our executives who are leaving.
