This club is intended for all 3rd and 4th grade students who enjoy playing chess.

In January, announcing the start of the chess season are distributed.
Any 3rd or 4th grader can then indicate interest and then, due to limited space, there will be a random drawing to choose 30 lucky students.

The students then practice once a week against each other and compete in a TJ Chess Tournament near the end of the school year.

All this practice gears us up for the BIG tournament at Carl Sandburg in May. This tournament is open to any student in District 15.

The club is for fun and it promotes thinking and strategizing.

The Chess Club meets during lunch hours in the Community Room
