PROGRAMS
Does your son/daughter love to hang out with friends AND read?
Then check out this super 6-week opportunity open to all students:
TJ's PTA sponsors a book club called Adventures in Reading!
Each group will be led by volunteers, and is sure to encourage the love of reading in your son/daughter. If your child is interested, here's what you'll need to know:
Adventures in Reading for 3rd and 4th grades begins in January
3rd grade will meet on Wednesdays
4th grade will meet on Thursdays
Adventures in Reading for 1st and 2nd grades begins in March
1st grade will meet on Wednesdays
4th grade will meet on Thursdays
AIR meets during the lunch hour (in place of recess).
Students eat lunch together with the volunteer leaders, and enjoy book discussion and activities.
This awesome program is completely optional.
Participation means each student is committing to read the books, and appropriately participate in the discussion and activities.
The books we read in each grade are as follows:
1st grade:
House on Maple Street,
The Bravest Dog Ever (Balto), and
Henry & Mudge and the Forever Sea
2nd grade:
Toad for Tuesday, and
Case of the Cool-Itch Kid
3rd grade:
Esio Trot
Gadget Wars
4th grade:
Socks
Wayside School is Falling Down
Please note:
Every child in the program will be loaned books to read during AIR.
If you would be willing to donate any of the above titles to TJ for use in the AIR program, please drop them off at the school.
